Buzzaudio manufactures a range of boutique analogue audio tools for recording musicians and professional recording engineers. All Buzzaudio-products feature new innovative designs intended to advance recording technology, and are not clones or copies of units from the past.

The ARC1.1 is a outboard channel strip combining a mic/line preamp, equaliser, compressor and limiter in one box. It has primarily been designed for recording and processing the human voice and sports a host of features that have been inspired by suggestions from audio professionals from around the globe.

In order to capture the most accurate uncolored reproduction of an acoustic source, a microphone preamplifier must exhibit low distortion, wide frequency response and low noise. The preamplifier must also be capable of reproducing transient information without slew rate limiting and present a non-reactive load to the microphone itself. Many preamplifiers that attempt to achieve this specification are often referred to as sounding “clinical”, however we believe the MA-2.2 brings the world one step closer to achieving this ultimate goal whilst retaining a musically warm and full sound.

Audio compressors that use a light source to control a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) are not new, and indeed there are many classic optical compressor designs. The design goal of the SOC-1.1 was to further enhance the attributes of optical compression to provide the user with alot more functionality as well as improve the compressor response to real world audio signals. We have carefully examined the characteristics of the LDR and developed a truly unique process to control it. This process we call the Differential Drive Side Chain topology (DDSC).
