Barefoot Sound
Barefoot Sound is founded on the ambition to create a new breed of audio monitor. As small and mid-sized project studios became more and more prominent in the early 2000’s, Thomas Barefoot began to recognize the need for a speaker that could transcend the need for multiple types of monitors, while still delivering the highest sonic performance available, all without being cost prohibitive.
The result is a monitoring solution that is turning the industry upside down. First with the MiniMain12™, and again with the MicroMain27™, Barefoot Sound is at the forefront of multipurpose monitoring solutions. Our innovative designs use only the finest components, and are built to the highest specifications.
Our speakers do it all. Whether acting as day to day near-fields, or impressing at high volumes while serving as set of mains, Barefoot Sound’s monitors are the most versatile in the world.
Hand Crafted in San Francisco, California. Barefoot Micromains MM 27
Barefoot MM27 Nearfield, Mains, Mastering. All in one.
The MicroMain27 is a groundbreaking new monitor that is in a class all its own. It is quickly becoming the premier choice for top mixing and mastering engineers. The speaker is designed to address the demands of modern recording. It breaks down the barriers between nearfield, mastering and main monitors. No need to have multiple pairs of speakers crowding your studio; no need to guess what the mastering engineer is going to hear. The MM27 is compact and powerful, truly a “nearfield on steroids™.” While exceptionally neutral and designed for critical listening, the MM27 is still very capable of rocking the house. It transforms the definition of a main monitor — a Micro Main™ monitor. The only monitor you may ever need. User comments
“I installed the MM27s, and the first thing I noticed was their weight, oh my god they weigh a lot!! Also, their construction is amazing, built like a tank but at the same time the design is so beautiful…. So I finished my mix and after some listening in my car and my boombox I send it to the label without surprises, the mix was exactly as I mixed it at my place. C’mon! this was my first time with those speakers and I was able to deliver a mix that translate really well to other systems!!!

“The MicroMain 27’s sound amazing! I feel like I’m listening to the music, not the speakers, and I can hear everything from top to bottom with incredible detail. There are no surprises when the mixes leave my studio, and they translate extremely well to the real world.”
Butch Vig
“They are the first monitors I have ever heard that when I get up from the drum set and stand or sit in front of the Barefoots (their sweet spot is huge)…, that is my drumset! It sounds like someone just moved the drum kit and put it on top of the console! I am not kidding.”

“I’d been using the same monitors for over 10 years when Ted convinced me to try the Barefoot MM27s. The test mixes I did were so good that I ordered a pair, and the three weeks that I had to go back to using my old monitors while waiting for my MM27s to be delivered was torture.”
Mark Linett
“The MM27’s just simply blew everything out of the water, period… I was mixing better in less than 1/2 the time… = more time for other things like family and friends.”

“The MM27 is such a major step forward that it could easily become the must-have speaker in every studio. It’s the NS10 of our generation.”

“I did an extensive shootout with all the top nearfields. What ultimately sold me on the Barefoots was hearing pop singer Vanessa Carlton just like she sounds in person. With every other monitor I could always hear some of the ‘box’. With the MM27s there was just her voice. As far as I’m concerned the Barefoots are the most accurate speakers in the world.”
